George and Agnes Brandt founded Brandt’s Open Kitchen Candy in 1948 in Willoughby, Ohio, a small thriving community east of Cleveland.

The years have gone by, but the location has remained the same!

Customers were able to watch the candy being made in the open kitchen behind the showroom. Brandt’s was known throughout the community for the high-quality chocolate produced at the site.

Brandt’s Candies Inc. is still doing business the same way today as a family-owned, family-run store. We are proud to carry on the Brandt’s tradition at the same location, in order to provide you with the same timeless treats you remember from your childhood.

Our candy is hand-made, following the original recipes and using only the finest ingredients. This gives our candies the fresh and delicious taste that makes our candies so unique.

We hand-dip our delicious creams, jellies, caramels, and marshmallow in fine chocolate. We also hand-dip coconut, dried fruit, and of course our mouth-watering cherry cordials.

Thank you for maintaining our families’ original recipes and techniques for Brandt’s Candies. George and Agnes were my husband’s great-grandparents and he has fond memories of spending time there. We had someone from Muncie, Indiana visit there last week and brought us back a box of the amazing turtles. Needless to say, they didn’t last long and our girls were super excited to enjoy them. Thank you for carrying on their love and passion for fine chocolates in a world where everything is mass produced and loses that sense of care.
I know Mr Brandts Candies proceeded Willoughby location ! During WWII he worked for Jackson Chocolates making K rations !!! He started his own shop in Painesville around the corner from Perkins on Grant St. He aquired two Carlisles + Cleve. Sears stores to supply, his shop area too small, relocated to Willoughby
I am George and Agnes Brandt’s niece and have wonderful memories of spending lots of time at the store. The best was at Christmas when my uncle made anise, spearmint and peppermint candy. The smell was indescribable! It’s so good to see the traditions continue!
I grew up in Chardon, along with my 4 sisters.
NOTHING brought us more joy and excitement on Easter morning then to walk into the kitchen and see the most beautiful Easter baskets that my mom had created with the adorable, DELICIOUS Brandt Easter bunnies, solid chocolate sitting girls, wagons, roosters ect.
Our father could not get enough of your white chocolate.
Such beautiful memories. The 5 of us girls are now in our 60’s and we still speak of Brandts.
3 of us will be visiting the area from NC, after 45yrs. , next Sunday- Wednesday. It breaks our hearts that we will not be able to visit the store to experience a big part of our childhood due to the hours. Our hopes were to bring home candies to share with our children and grand children.
Thank-you for being a great part of our childhood Easter’s.
